About Mummy, Kahani Sunao!

Stories are the best way to experience the magic. A magic that makes us live many lives, experience and learn from other’s experiences.

Robert McKee once said,

“Storytelling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world.”

Well, Mummy, Kahani Sunao! is my way of putting ideas into the world.

Mummy, Kahani Sunao!’ was a familiar plea I made to my mother each day. She was an avid reader, and as a child—and later a young adult—I was deeply drawn to listening to her stories. Through them, she transported me to fantasy worlds, moments from history, and into the lives and emotions of unforgettable characters. Most nights, I would drift off to sleep only after listening to two or three stories.

With time, I came to understand the true value of those moments. Those stories were not just entertainment—they were quiet lessons, pearls of wisdom. Even today, in difficult situations, those lessons guide me and help me navigate life. Without realising it, my mother used the powerful art of storytelling to shape my thinking and prepare me for the world.

And now, I find myself continuing that legacy—narrating stories from her diary, along with many others, in a collection lovingly called ‘Mummy, Kahani Sunao!’

Happy listening. I hope these stories bring you as much joy and meaning as they brought me
